* Our longest living DDB, Gabby aka Izzy passed away on 6th November 2024 at a grand old age of 11 years 2 months & 3 days. She will leave a huge hole in our hearts and will always be remembered for the remarkable dog that she was *
We are very pleased with Gabby. She along with sister Alice are what we had hoped this mating would produce. She really has a great body and we just love her rear angulation and her broad, solid body. She has wonderfully wide nostrils. She is a smoochy girl who loves a good cuddle. She also loves being a "Salon" Dog with her mum Jane and is actually the door greeter who loves to meet new clients coming in for a clip. She has made many friends of the 2 and 4 legged variety and if she's not on the couch she is always at Jane's side. We can not thank Jane and Matt enough for the love and devotion they give to Gabby, who is actually now Isabella or Issy for short. Issy has a wonderful temperament and is great with kids and the menagerie of other animals she lives with on the farm. Typical of DDB, Issy is loyal and protective of her family, proving the case, with the intruder running for the hills, literally!!!
Gabby made her debut on 15 December 2012 at Building & Amenities Champ Show and was awarded 3rd from the Baby Bitch class behind sister Alice. The following night she was again awarded 3rd Baby bitch. At the 2012 End of Year Extravaganza held by CFR Gabby was awarded 2nd from the Baby Bitch Class on the first and second nights from a class of 3 babies. On the 3rd night she did indeed take 'centre stage' and was awarded Best Baby of Breed. Thank-you to Kristie who took her in for her class as I was a handler down. Gabby placed 2nd in the Baby Bitch Class at the LKC on 19 January 2012 under local judge Mr Primrose.
After a break from the ring, Gabby was awarded Bitch Challenge (over Alice) and then Runner-Up to Best of Breed and all from the minor class, at the MKC show on 27/4/13. At the Saturday show for the Winter Festival (13/7/13), judged by Latvian judge Mrs Mrs R Kadike-Skadina, Gabby did very well and placed 2nd in the Puppy Class. She was also awarded Reserve Bitch Challenge. Sunday, judged by Ukrainian judge Mrs Z Oleinikova, her mummy Jane took her in the ring and did a wonderful job for a first show. Gabby was again awarded 2nd in Puppy bitch class and Reserve Bitch Challenge.
At the Utility Dog Club Memorial Show on the 14th September 2013, Issy was awarded 1st in her class (State Bred) at both shows and was again handled wonderfully by her mummy Jane. We are very proud of them both and are pleased with how Issy is maturing at just over 12 months.
The 2013 Perth Royal Show, Issy was awarded 2nd in her Junior class. She had a ball in and out the ring and was a pleasure to show. The public loved her and she lapped up all the attention and pats she could get. What a fantastic day it was and we are very proud of her achievements.
Issy was awarded 1st in Junior Bitch class (also Best Junior of Breed) and Bitch Challenge at the Wanneroo Show on 30/11/2013. Again Issy was awarded 1st in Junior bitch (another Best Junior of Breed) Bitch Challenge and Runner Up Best of Breed under WA judge Mr G Ball at the MKC champ show on 14/12/13. We are very pleased with her progress.
Issy picked up a few more points at the Canine Fund Raisers Champ Show in January 2014. She was 1st in State-Bred bitch and also the Challenge winner.
Issy is awarded her first Best of Breed, from limited showing at the NSDC of WA Championship Show on 28th June 2014. We are very proud of her.
At the Utility Dog Club of WA Champ Show on 13th September 2014, Issy was awarded 2nd in Intermediate class.
Issy's first show for 2015, on January 31st, saw her awarded Challenge Bitch and Best of Breed under Mrs L Buckley (ACT). Again, on the following night under WA judge Mr S Warry, Issy was again awarded Challenge Bitch and Best of Breed.
We are thrilled that Issy went Challenge Bitch, Best of Breed AND BEST STATE BRED IN GROUP 6 under local judge Mrs S Baxter on 14th March 2015. The following night, Issy was awarded 1st State Bred, Res CC and RUBOB under local judge Mr G Ball.
Issy was inseminated to Australian Champion Sandaharr Haud Yer Wheesht (imp UK) in June 2015. We hope to hear the pitter patter of little paws in August.
Issy has been hip/elbow scored with hips 19, International Grade D1 (this would grade OFA Moderate) and elbows 0:0. She is also heart tested by Cardiologist via Echocardiogram and is CLEAR for any defects, with an Aortic outflow velocity of 1.64m/s
* * * * * Unfortunately, Gabby developed pyometra soon after being inseminated and underwent an emergency spey, effectively retiring her from our breeding program. We are very glad that she is still alive today, and will live out her retirement in the creature comforts of country living, with her family. * * * * *
