Yesterday we lay Leah to rest, aged 7years, 6months & 1 day. There will never be another day brightened with her happy face. There will never be another like Leah. She was truly a unique and wonderful companion, with the most beautiful soul. She loved people, thanks to spending the first 6 months going to work with Jarrad every day until she grew too big for the baby pen that she would sneak out of the shop, surprise the girls next door at Flight Centre or wander down the centre of Carousel shopping centre…The security guards knew her well! When she had to stay home with Tori and Tonka plus Mack & Maddy the pugs, (because let’s be honest, there was no way of containing a giant 6 month old of puppy’s love, in a small shop), she would often jump the gate at home and be waiting by the front door when we pulled in the driveway each night. She loved people, and anyone who visited was enthusiastically greeted or was given the pouty look until she was acknowledged, but as anyone who visited would know, they were given no choice as she would sit on your feet and there was no escaping her love. She would lean into you (all 60kg of her) and look up into your face with her precious grin and a look that was irresistible. She greeted each and every new pack member with her beautiful and calm nature but was given the upmost respect by all, and even till her last day, she still put everyone in their place, as much as she could try. We thought she would live forever, as anyone does I guess, you never imagine the day they will eventually leave for Rainbow Bridge. And even when you know its looming, somewhere in the distance, your still never really truly prepared for it.
Now she is at peace. Laid to rest in the warm morning sun, just how she loved to enjoy her days. She was ready, just laying her head down and slipping into eternal sleep.
No more pain, restored to vigour, running up the rainbow to join her mates Tori & Tonka, daughter Zaylah and to keeping Bowser in check for Koopa. Turning the page, from this life to the next, she was truly one-of-a-kind. There will never be another soul like her. We love you Leah and miss you now and always. Forever in our hearts and thoughts. Rest easy.
