Billie whelped our M litter Monday afternoon 7th February 2022. Amazing experience after past tragedies.
Sad news just a few days later, Bertie (T. Bertie Botts) from our H Litter passed away suddenly. Her mummy was napping with her youngest child and when she woke in the afternoon for the school run, Bertie had passed away, laying on the grass in her favorite spot. Such sad and devasting news for both as Bertie was still so young. More sad news, on the 28th February, Iiah (CH. Amedange Celestial Child) passed away, suspected lung cancer. Another devastating blow. Iiah was 6.7 years old. Billie was scanned pregnant on 7th January 2022. What a wonderful way to start the new year. Scan shows 5-6 on board and we plan to let Billie whelp naturally as long as everything is scanning ok.
Sad news just a few days later. Honey (aka Karma) from E Litter sadly passed away on the 12th January. She had a bleed on her liver and was operated on, but sadly could not be saved. Condolences to her family on her very sad passing. We decided to do a dual sire with Axel & Dogue over Billie this season. Fingers crossed for positive news early in the NY Our gorgeous girl Lilly was desexed on the 1st. It was found that 1 of her uterine horns was full on cysts and this is likely why she never had a positive pregnancy scan. Her brother Dogue cant wait for her to recover and start the newest chapter of her life sharing home with him.
We mated Lilly to Axel last month. She had her 4 week ultrasound on the 9th and unfortunately she is not expecting a litter early December. Breeding is a costly venture and not something we do for profit but because we are very passionate about the breed and breeding healthy dogs. Not a lot of people will understand the amount of $$$ that go into preparing and going ahead with a mating. From health testing hip/elbow xrays, heart ultrasound, DNA testing for testable inherited diseases, progesterone testing to determine the best time for mating or insemination, pre-mate swab, artificial insemination weather that is by standing AI, TCI or surgical AI, these are all big costs before we even know if the breeding was successful. Unfortunately with 4 misses this year, breathtakingly, we financially likely will not be able to continue. We have poured our hearts, souls and many tears into this wonderful journey since we started in 2010. Lilly will be desexed and has a wonderful home lined up with her brother Dogue. That will leave us with Billie, Luxie & Mica. We will attempt to breed these girls however if these are unsuccessful, that will be the end of our breeding journey… not forever hopefully, but certainly for a while, so we can recover and get back on our feet again. Love to all Brooke, Jarrad, Riva & Grace 17/11/21: Happy 7th birthday to old mate Diesel (C Litter)
Lilly is in season and we plan to mate her to Axel. Little Lady Luxie is growing up nicely. She celebrated her 1st birthday on the 10th. Sad news that Ali (T. Domino Effect) was lay to rest by his loving family on the 8th October. He had been suffering from incontinence issues over the last year and then his back legs started going. He was so loved and very cherished by his family Such an amazing, soft hearted boy. --RIP Ali-- 05/03/2016 to 08/10/2021 We celebrated our J Litter puppies 2nd Birthday on the 14th. Happy birthday to Billie, Hammond, Frank, Frank, Reggie, Marley & Barnsey. Snake Season is upon us. Bricktop had a close shave with a snake at his home in Clackline. Thanfully the quick thinking house cleaner alerted his mummy and she was able to get the whole pack (Izzy, Boris & Brick) to the vet for testing and they were able to administer antivenom in time to save Brick. He is on strict crate rest for the next 4 weeks and will be closely monitored by mummy Jane.
If you think your pet has been bitten dont delay going to the vet for a test. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE and quick thinking may just save your pets life! This month we celebrated the 9th birthday of our A Litter pups, Izzy, Alice, Ramsey (RIP), Duke, Zeus, Cleo, Tulli, Sarge, Koopa (RIP). We are so happy to celebrate this milestone with our puppy families.
Great news for Sarge (E Litter) who has set off to his new home with Dr Anita, who has reported that he settled in as if he has been there all his life and they are thrilled to have him in their lives. One thing we have learnt over the years has been that it gets harder and harder to say goodbyes. Goodbyes when puppies are born sleeping, goodbyes when we try our hardest but they dont pull through, goodbyes when puppies leave for homes and the hardest goodbye of all, when one of our own cross the rainbow bridge (and this includes our extended puppy families). On the morning of 23rd September, we were devastated to wake and find that that our girl Oona had passed away overnight, peacefully in her sleep. Curled up on her bed with front paws tucked under, exactly how she sleeps every single night. Goodbye sweet girl. We love you and miss you always. Renuinted with her mumma Shala and leaves behind her stamp on the breed here in Australia & New Zealand. Billie has come into season and we plan to breed her to Diablo by way of frozen semen. She had her echocardiogram screening and returned good results. Aortic Outflow Velocity within normal limits at 1.60m/s.
Unfortunately Mica was scanned late August as sadly is not expecting a litter next month. We will try again with a different sire on her next heat. Another lot of bad news, Billie developed pyometra (lucky it is an open pyo) so we abandoned her insemination and are having her treated for the infection. She will hopefully be bred on her next heat. Not a great year for us in regards to breeding with 2 misses and a pyo infection. Well they do say bad things come in 3's so we are hoping our luck will turn around. Fingers crossed. Axel's scores came back. Hip score of left 7: right 12 total 19 (would score OFA B2) and elbows 1/0.
Mica has come into season and we have bred her to our boy Diesel by way of frozen semen. Another boy from K Litter was scored. Black collar boy Duke returned hip score left 9: right 7, total 16 (OFA B2) and elbows disappointingly 1:2 |
